THE GUCCI SHOES THAT TYLER NEEDS OR SHE'LL JUST DIE

Gucci patent leather ballerinas, $650

Do you know that feeling you get when you see something and you just know that if you don't own it and have it for yourself you're going to literally die? I know, I know, capitalism: The worst!

Anyway, that's how I feel when I look at these Gucci flats. My personal style inspirations are Alexa Chung, Blair Waldorf and Samantha — yes, as in the American Girl doll Samantha — and these pink, pearl-embellished ballerinas would fit seamlessly into any of their closets, which means they would fit seamlessly into mine! I'd pair them with cropped denim for work so I didn't look too precious, but obviously they're begging to be worn with flirty skirts and fancy dresses. And bows! So many bows.

Fall-Winter 2016 Gucci Ad Campaign

CATEGORIES:Other Brands

I recall a conversation I had with an esteemed editor who met up with Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele recently in London, and if I remembered correctly, the editor mentioned something about the designer ‘living in his own world’. And it’s exactly this unique world perspective that has given the historied Italian luxury house new life and turned her fortunes around almost overnight.

You’ll see this world in his clothes, in his accessories, but the starting point for any collection will always be the ad campaigns, which started on crowded streets to underground train stations and most recently, a tropical aviary complete with pink flamingos. Yes, nothing normal here, but normal it seems, isn’t in Michele’s vocabulary to begin with.

For the Fall-Winter 2016 ad campaign which just hit the interwebs today, we have Glen Luchford lensing his 4th consecutive campaign (or is it the 5th one?) for Gucci, shot on various locations in Tokyo from a pachinko parlour to a park and even the interior of a traditional Japanese house, complete with tatami mats. There are crowded streets, there are soap bubbles, there’s even a bowl of goldfish, with each campaign image subtitled with words like ‘street sounds’, ‘pop’ and ‘relentless buzzing sound’.

You don’t have to try to break it down and try to psychoanalyse it intently for its alternative meaning, you just have to sit back and enjoy Michele’s world. And figure out what you’ll be buying from the collection too, of course.

See Gucci’s Net-a-Porter Capsule Collection for Summer 2016

CATEGORIES:Fashion

When Gucci revealed an exclusive capsule collection was about to arrive at Net-a-Porter online shelves, the online consumers and Alessandro Michele fans ran amok. The Italian creative director is probably one of Gucci’s most acclaimed creative minds of all times, and now that we can finally take a first look at the upcoming Gucci x Net-a-Porter 2016 capsule collection, every single staple seems to satisfactorily meet our expectations. There are still two more days to go until the arrival of the collection at Net-a-Porter, but until then let’s see what this special collaboration has in store for us!

Gucci x Net-a-Porter Capsule Collection 2016

When the first news about the Gucci x Net-a-Porter capsule collection hit the Internet back in the beginning of May, there was much speculation whether it was going to be all about accessories or some statement staples a la Michele. Since Gucci is one of the online retailer’s top sellers, the partnership seemed however to be a natural one for both the Italian fashion house and the e-commerce site, and we can’t help but hope there will be more of them in future. And, now, after Michele’s fashion success at the yearly Met Gala, we finally know that Net-a-Porter is going to launch its exclusive capsule collection on May 12, meaning that we have just a few hours to brace ourselves and our wallets.

The 20-piece mini collection’s price tags range from $270 to $5,300, and include both statement accessories and ensembles. The overall aesthetics of the pieces are those of Gucci’s – classic and traditional yet with modern touches that are very dear to Alessandro Michele. If you are one of Michele’s followers and can’t help constantly falling in love with his oversized botanical motifs and references from the animal kingdom, you will rejoice at discovering that they still are the core details of Michele’s creative process for the Gucci x Net-a-Porter capsule collection.

There are also some strong feminine touches added to the collection, with delicate roses inspired by 19th-century tapestry that are just too cute to handle. You will find such patterns on the elegant loafer slides (one of Gucci’s hallmarks when it comes to shoes), bell-bottom jeans and even the signature Dionysus shoulder bag (available in different sizes), which comes in a brand new look that will hardly go unnoticed. If you like the 19th-century motifs but would like to just get a little statement piece, you can always opt for the flowery silk scarfs, accessorizing your day-to-day looks with their loveliness. A blouse made of lavish silk georgette is meant to be paired with an ethereal pleated skirt, while the heeled mules with a gold heel are just the go-to shoes for every occasion.

Gucci x Net-a-Porter Capsule Collection 2016

Michele also reinvented even Gucci’s infamous Heron print, using it for a contemporary red sweatshirt in neoprene with the sleeves and neckline made of glittery lurex. Among the pieces you will also find a whimsical schoolgirl mini skirt in royal blue, a pair of cozy yet always elegant sneakers, matching blouses and skirts with heart motifs and even an elegant floor-length red dress that is just astounding. With his capsule collection, Michele makes it clear that going matchy-matchy is the new black, this season!

Gucci Spring 2016 Makeup Collection

CATEGORIES:Fashion

We all surely remember the Gucci spring 2016 RTW collection filled with flying colors, afterwards appearing at the heart of so many laudations and admirations. Alessandro Michele gave birth to a new nerdy girl style with oversized round eyeglasses and thoughtful visages making a pretty effective contrast with the hilarious colors and botanical motifs. And now when spring 2016 makeup collections have been brought to frantic competition, the brand is launching the Gucci Beauty spring 2016 makeup collection, all inspired by tender flower petals, fresh leaves, pretty ladybugs, colorful parrots and so on and so forth.

Gucci Spring 2016 Makeup Collection

The collection, not so bounteous with makeup products, includes both new and already existing numbers all impregnated with tender pink shades with elegant beige in between and all making perfect beauty looks with any Gucci piece available in the spring 2016 collection. The assortment will come to market this month already at Gucci.com and other online retailers. The collection includes:

The light brown and plum shades included make an ideal balance to be used alone or in combination or when mixed and matched with other shades to your liking. The highly pigmented formula of the duo is the best warrant to bring your eyes to the general attention, while the two brushes attached to them are for extremely precise application.

Gucci SS 2016 Campaign Features Some Awesome Peacocks

CATEGORIES:Fashion

All the spring campaigns are beginning to come to light! Fashion photographer Glen Luchford has aptly captured the latest Gucci spring/summer 2016 campaign, featuring models such as Peyton Knight, Polina Oganicheva, Elizabeth Moore, Arnis Cielava, Mia Gruenwald, Hugo Goldhoorn, and Nicole Atieno, among many others, appearing to be at a bus terminal, with peacocks in hand, flower shops in the background and some pretty fun shots in bathrooms with hand dryers.

Gucci Spring/Summer 2016 Campaign

The campaign features the Gucci SS 2016 collection by Alessandro Michele, the Italian brand really taking the advertising down a different path. Gucci is known for its wacky approach to capturing the media’s and consumer attention. That means going over the top in its staging process, this time with some intriguing additions to the foray. High drama is exactly what the campaign captures, beginning with an image where a woman is leaning sorrowfully on a hand dryer, an embracing couple beside her, the man seemingly wanting to comfort the first model.

It is a tableau that we see, a flash image of a night out unfolding not the way the ladies hoped it would. It is all so very carefully styled, with clashing pinks and reds, lipstick stains, pussy-bow blouses, lace shirts and metallic skirts, along with those awesome new glitter glasses with the oversized and rather thick frames. Bomber jackets are embellished, green is a color that wins out, and that glittering suit is certainly one of the wacky throw-ins that we all want but have no idea where we would where.

The Gucci SS 2016 campaign shoots were done in Berlin, and it all had a very retro meets modern vibe to it, kind of like all of its latest collections. This campaign is no different, of course, and the focus on the forest green is killing us. It is all too perfect and pretty much the hue makes for the new black of 2016.

Glitter trainers, lace shorts, striped blouses, and pompoms on hats over the head all make for intriguing combinations. Add in some antisocial behavior like riding a skateboard in a mall while holding a peacock, or carrying one up the metro stairs while wearing a simple brown coats, in direct contrast with the red and floral embroidered ensemble the one standing beside you has donned on, and you have the latest Gucci campaign in a handful of intriguing images.

Whether you put the Gucci wearers on a rooftop overlooking the whole of the city or you have them falling to the floor in a drunken stupor while wearing some fun designs and glitter fringed mules, one cannot help but admit that this is a crazy but train wreck awesome campaign feature which we certainly have quite a bit of problems ungluing our eyes from. We are not sure whether it is good or bad, but it is amazing in a please end it soon kind of way. Now, thinking that while wearing red bell bottom pants just makes it all the more appealing, no?
